Dear Friends,

Thank you for taking time to explore the Plant City Community Choir website! This is a wonderful time for our choir and we look forward to having you be a part of our family by becoming a singer, supporter, advertiser, and/or audience member.

The human voice is the most natural instrument the world has. Vocalists differ from instrumentalists in that the music we make is extremely personal. Instrumentalists have a safety net - if their music sounds bad they can blame it on the instrument itself. We, in the vocal world, have just our voice. It is a part of our body, mind, and soul. Every time a choir sings, many things have to happen. Singers must: learn and rehearse the music, watch the conductor for tempo, hear their starting pitches in their head, form a unified vowel that will match the other 30 people, breath, notice the style and dynamic markings, then combine into one voice. Think of that! It is so hard to get 30+ people to agree on anything 100%, but when we start making music, that is what happens.

I hope you enjoy what you see and hear on our website. We exist to inspire you, enrich your musical life, and perform for you. We appreciate all contributions you can make - even contributions of time. Enjoy the 2011-2012 season. There is certainly something for everyone!
